The designer you call when the game changes.
Cable TV, games, smartphones, Bitcoin, AI. Early to all of it.
In brief

I grew up in West Los Angeles and started making things for screens as a teenager, building player models for a Half-Life mod that Valve later shipped as a retail game. My first job was at a game studio in Santa Monica in 2000, while I was still in high school. In 2002 I joined G4 before the channel was on the air and stayed nearly 6 years while it became the network for gaming culture on television.
Since 2008 I have run Inverted Chaos, my own remote studio. Through agencies, I have designed and animated for Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Microsoft, Sony, Viacom, NBCUniversal, IBM and Activision, led animation on keynote videos for AWS, and made investor videos for companies going public. In 2022 MARA hired me as a contractor for one conference. I left in 2025 as its Vice President of Design, after launching 6 brands, 2 physical product lines and 4 virtual-asset platforms.
I am also writing an episodic sci-fi series, and helping founders solve business problems through design and custom internal tools.
01 / 1999 to 2003
Games, then a channel before it was on the air.
2002 to 2003 / Los Angeles, CA / Senior designer
Hired in February 2002, 2 months before G4 went on the air with a week-long game of Pong. I art-directed the content-driven sites, built the editing and encoding workflow for G4's web video, and made the mini-sites the sales team used to sell a channel nobody had seen yet. The brief was a website that felt like a games network.
02 / 2004 to 2009
Gaming culture on live television, 5 days a week.
2006 to 2007 / Los Angeles, CA / Designer, animator
Art-directed the visual language across every new-media platform G4 had, from the site to the video players to the E3 coverage. Worked with the president and SVP on new ways to deliver content before streaming was a common word. Managed and delegated projects across a small team of designers.
2008 / Playa del Rey, CA / Designer, animator
Websites for DirecTV's televised esports league and the branding for CGS Live. City franchises from 4 continents played Counter-Strike, FIFA and Forza in a sports-league format, backed by DirecTV, BSkyB and STAR TV. Two seasons, then the 2008 crash closed it in November.
2008 to now / Los Angeles, CA / Founder, creative director
It is the studio I still run, and the only company I own. It has been remote since 2008, with a small team assembled per project. Microsoft, Netflix, Hulu, IBM, Amazon and Activision have all come through it. Most of what follows on this page went through it too.
2009 / Culver City, CA / Designer, animator
Interface and game logic for an A&E Upfronts marketing game called Wake the Planner. The audience was television ad buyers. It was the first game logic I wrote.
03 / 2010 to 2015
Consoles, websites, one phone, then television again.
2010 / Redmond, WA / Designer, animator
I was on campus in Redmond 2 months before E3, designing and animating Microsoft's announcement for Kinect, where Project Natal got its real name at a Cirque du Soleil show. The interface animation was for a device with no controller. Kinect went on to be the fastest-selling consumer electronics device on record.
2011 to 2012 / Santa Monica, CA / Web designer
Six months designing the launch sites for Sony's flagship Uncharted 3, its DLC, the Vita spin-off Golden Abyss and the Jak & Daxter collection. The sites carried the trailers, the pre-order and the lore pages, designed to match each game before release.
2012 / Los Angeles, CA / Designer, animator
Mission intro sequences for Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and the prologue and epilogue for Strike Team, 2 months remote for Activision. The military briefing graphics had to look authentic and read on a handheld screen. I came back to the franchise 3 years later.
2012 to 2014 / Seattle, WA / UX designer
Two years on site in Seattle with the UX team, concepting and visualizing interfaces for a phone that did not exist yet. Its Dynamic Perspective feature used 4 front-facing cameras to track your head and shift the interface in 3D. The phone shipped in July 2014.
2014 / Hollywood, CA / Designer, animator
Daily graphic deliverables for Shark After Dark, the live 11pm talk show that ran every night of Shark Week 2014, hosted by Josh Wolf and produced by Embassy Row. Viewer tweets went to air in real time. Each day’s graphics were built in the afternoon and aired that night.
2015 / Los Angeles, CA / Designer
More than 700 vector-accurate multiplayer emblem and seal icons in under 6 weeks, through a pipeline I built for illustration sprints, automated exports and QA across HDR, accessibility and UI constraints. Emblem use went up 40 percent after launch. The game made $550 million in its launch week.
2015 / Hollywood, CA / Designer, animator
Logo and full broadcast graphics package for Hollywood Sessions, the Epix and Los Angeles Times series where the paper's film writers sat down with the year's awards contenders for an hour at a time. I built the show open, the lower thirds and the transitions in 2 months.
04 / 2016 to 2021
Keynote walls, then investor videos.
2016 to 2017 / Culver City, CA / Animation director, supervising graphics producer
Built the logo and the full visual system for truTV's comedy how-to show, then ran a VFX and graphics team of 5 through the season. More than 80 assets in 9 weeks on a modular After Effects system that cut per-episode graphics hours by 40 percent. The network ordered 13 more episodes, and on those I was supervising graphics producer.
2017 to 2018 / Santa Monica, CA / Designer, animator
A year on site at Hulu in Santa Monica. I made first-looks for Harlots, Casual and other originals, and the Light it Up fall campaign, which ran during the World Series, in outdoor advertising in New York and on kiosks in Sprint stores nationwide.
2019 / Las Vegas, NV / Animation director
Five more videos for one canvas of 7 LED screens, 30,720 by 1,280 pixels, shown between keynotes to a live audience of 50,000. I took a remote team of 4 through storyboards and compositing, and worked with an on-site AV crew to make the media servers play the videos.
2019 to 2021 / Remote / Lead motion designer
Seven IPO videos, produced fully remotely, about $100,000 and 6 animators each, from brief to premiere with founders, CFOs and underwriters. The companies were Fastly, Upstart, ON24, Cricut, Traeger, Rent the Runway and Rackspace. The underwriters credited the videos in buy-side meetings. In 2020 I also worked on 2 takeovers of the Times Square screens, one of them for the Rackspace IPO.
2020 to 2023 / Remote / Designer, developer
Designed and built the Merging Path Coaching website in Webflow, and animated the logo lock-up and end titles for their announcement video. Three years of small, ongoing work.
05 / 2022 to 2025
MARA's first designer. Then its VP of Design.
2022 to 2025 / Remote / Creative director, then VP of Design
I was hired as a contractor for one job, Marathon's debut as Moon Sponsor of Bitcoin 2022 Miami, a show with 200 exhibitors. A remote team delivered the opening video, the 20-by-20-foot LED booth, the signage and the collateral in under 6 weeks. After Miami the company offered me the Creative Director job full time, then made me VP of Design, at one of the largest public Bitcoin miners in North America. I grew the design team into an internal agency that launched 6 brands, 2 physical product lines and 4 virtual-asset platforms. In 2024 I led the brand through the company’s rename to MARA. The full story has its own page.
